CodesWise ("we," "us," or "our") is an AI-powered building code reference tool operated as a standalone brand. Our service is available at www.codeswise.com. For privacy-related inquiries, contact us at info@codeswise.com.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Account information: Your name, email address, company name, occupation, and gender when you create an account.
- Payment information: Billing details processed securely through Stripe. CodesWise does not store credit card numbers on our servers.
- Queries and conversations: The questions you ask CodesWise and the answers returned, which are stored to provide conversation history features.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and general interaction patterns to improve the service.
- Device information: Browser type, operating system, and general location (country/province level) for service optimization.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the CodesWise service
- To process payments and manage your subscription
- To store your conversation history for retrieval across sessions (Pro and Enterprise plans)
- To send transactional emails such as account confirmation and billing receipts
- To respond to your support inquiries
- To understand how the service is used in aggregate to guide product development
4. What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
- We do not use your queries or conversations to train AI models.
- We do not share your data with advertisers.
- We do not use your data for any purpose beyond operating CodesWise.
5. Data Storage and Location
Your data is stored using Supabase, with database servers located in Canada. Payment processing is handled by Stripe, which maintains its own security and compliance certifications including PCI-DSS compliance.
AI query processing uses the Anthropic API (Claude) and Voyage AI for embeddings. Queries are transmitted to these services to generate answers but are not retained by those services for training purposes under our agreements.
6. Data Retention
- Active accounts: Your data is retained for as long as your account is active.
- Trial accounts: Conversation data from expired free trials is automatically deleted after 24 hours.
- Deleted accounts: Upon account deletion, your personal data is removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
7. Third-Party Services
CodesWise uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Supabase — database and authentication (supabase.com/privacy)
- Stripe — payment processing (stripe.com/privacy)
- Anthropic — AI query processing (anthropic.com/privacy)
- Voyage AI — semantic search embeddings
- Railway — application hosting (railway.app/legal/privacy)
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Portability: Request your conversation data in a portable format.
- Objection: Object to certain uses of your data.

9. PIPEDA Compliance
CodesWise is committed to complying with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). 10. Crown Copyright Notice
The building code content referenced through CodesWise is subject to Crown copyright held by the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). CodesWise is seeking formal licensing arrangements with the NRC for the commercial use of Crown copyright materials. Use of this service does not convey any rights to reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit the underlying code documents beyond personal reference use.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the CodesWise website. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
