By accessing or using CodesWise ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service. These terms apply to all users including free trial users, paid subscribers, and enterprise account members.

CodesWise is an AI-powered building code reference tool that allows users to query the 2025 National Building Code, National Fire Code, National Plumbing Code, and National Energy Code for Buildings of Canada. Enterprise subscribers may have access to additional reference materials. The Service uses artificial intelligence to retrieve and summarize relevant code passages and provides citations to the source documents.

You must be at least 18 years of age to use CodesWise. By creating an account, you represent that all information you provide is accurate and that you have the authority to enter into these Terms on behalf of yourself or your organization.

Free Trial

New accounts receive a 24-hour free trial with full access to the Service. One trial per email address. No credit card is required to start a trial.

Paid Subscriptions

Paid subscriptions are available on monthly or annual billing cycles at the rates published on our pricing page. Prices are in Canadian dollars unless otherwise stated.

CodesWise Content

The CodesWise platform, including its interface, branding, and AI system architecture, is the intellectual property of CodesWise. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.

Crown Copyright โ€” National Building Codes

The building code documents accessible through CodesWise are subject to Crown copyright held by the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). CodesWise is seeking formal licensing arrangements with the NRC for commercial use of Crown copyright materials. Users acknowledge that the code content is reproduced for reference purposes only and that all intellectual property rights in the underlying codes remain with the NRC and the Government of Canada. Users must not reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit the code content accessed through this Service.

Your queries and conversations belong to you. You grant CodesWise a limited licence to process and store this content solely to provide the Service. We do not use your queries to train AI models.

CodesWise is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

We do not warrant that answers generated by CodesWise are accurate, complete, current, or applicable to your specific project or jurisdiction. Building code interpretation requires professional judgment. Errors in AI-generated responses are possible.

CodesWise answers must not be relied upon as a substitute for review of the official published codes, nor as a substitute for advice from a licensed architect, engineer, or building official.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CodesWise shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to errors in code interpretation, reliance on AI-generated answers, or service interruptions.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to CodesWise in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CodesWise from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms, non-payment, or any conduct we determine to be harmful to the Service or other users. You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at info@codeswise.com.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the CodesWise website at least 14 days before changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
